A new survey released this month by RentCafe, the organization that keeps tabs on apartment and home rentals across the country, says volumes about Madison’s stubborn housing shortage.
The survey shows that Wisconsin’s capital city is now 80th best for renters out of what RentCafe determines are the best 150 American cities for renters. Last year it ranked 68th.
Although there’s been a boom in new apartments throughout the Madison area, the city still remains one of the toughest places to find one. RentCafe compiles what it calls the Rental Competitive Index and gives Madison a score of 89.1 (a high score indicates high demand), nearly five points higher than comparable Midwestern cities…
