The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the City of Shreveport, and the Caddo Parish Commission have revamped the alert system to separate emergency alerts from national alerts. The Caddo Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is currently over the collaborative project. KSLA spoke with a Caddo commissioner about the importance of signing up for alerts.
“You can get public safety alerts, you can get animal alerts or bug alerts, road closures, bridge closures, building closures. But you can also get in the case of an emergency, there is a tornado coming, a hard freeze. Right now, on mine, there is a heat, I’m getting heat warning right now. So you get those types of notices.”…
