- ‘Price is Right’ contestant wins a brand new car just after Drew Carey signed the back of his t-shirt (marketrealist.com)
Talk about a lucky day! A “Price is Right” contestant named Barry not only got host Drew Carey’s autograph, but he also drove away in a brand new Kia, all thanks to some quick reflexes and a little bit of luck.
Barry showed up to the show sporting a t-shirt that read, “Drew Carey signed my shirt on stage.” Carey, ever the good sport, obliged and signed the back of the shirt. Little did Barry know, this simple act might have been the key to his fortune.
With Carey’s freshly penned signature still drying, announcer George Gray revealed the prize Barry was playing for: a shiny new Kia. The excitement was almost too much for Barry to handle, and he had to be held back so Carey could finish signing before the game began.
The game involved a giant board displaying a range of prices. A marker moved upwards, and Barry had to stop it when he thought it landed within the price range of the car. It sounds simple, but the pressure is intense.
Barry, however, seemed unfazed. After consulting the audience, he stopped the marker between $16,590 and $16,740.
The tension was palpable as the actual price was revealed: $16,595! Barry had won by a hair, just seconds away from losing it all.
Was it skill, luck, or the magic of Drew Carey’s signature? We may never know.
Overjoyed, Barry embraced model Rachel Reynolds and celebrated his incredible win. Getting his shirt signed was probably exciting enough, but winning a new car? Talk about a bonus!
