BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The woman accused of leading officers and deputies on a chase that ended near Chuze Fitness sat down with Eyewitness News. She admitted to feeling guilty following the pursuit.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on July 17, 2025, at around 9:20 p.m., deputies assigned to Metro Patrol K9 unit, tried to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of North Chester and Beardsley Avenue. KCSO said the vehicle pulled over, then took off and led deputies in a pursuit.
The vehicle was disabled in the area of Stockdale Highway and California Avenue, where the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 21-year-old Ashley Cabe, refused commands to get out of the vehicle. KCSO said deputies deployed a less-lethal launcher and a K9 to arrest her…
