2 people wounded in shootout with suspects who tried to steal their Dodge Charger outside a Detroit nightclub: cops

DETROIT (WWJ) — Two people were shot after an attempted carjacking turned into a shootout on Detroit’s west side Thursday night.

According to Detroit Police Commander Vernal Newson, the victims were approached by masked suspects at around 10 a.m., as they were leaving a nightclub on the Southfield Service Drive, near Joy Road.

“Two individuals in a blue vehicle, a blue sedan, pulled along side of them. They were masked up,” Newsom told reporters. “They announced a holdup. One of the victims in the Charger produced a weapon, a CPL holder, and one of the offenders in the blue vehicle opened fire on the victims’ vehicle.”…
