Guatemalan Man Indicted in Jacksonville on Federal Fraud and Immigration Charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A federal grand jury has indicted a Guatemalan national on multiple charges related to immigration fraud and illegal reentry into the United States, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.

Diego Andres Garcia, 45, faces charges of possessing false documents, falsely representing a Social Security number, and illegally reentering the United States after deportation. If convicted, Garcia could face up to 10 years in federal prison for the document fraud charge, up to five years for the Social Security violation, and up to two years for the illegal reentry offense.

Court records indicate that in July 2024, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a workplace immigration compliance inspection at a construction company in Jacksonville.
