Camp Mack gets a makeover with new bar and riverfront concerts

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Camp Mack, a historic lodge, marina and RV resort on Lake Kissimmee, relaunched its indoor, full-service sports bar and grill under new ownership and kicked off a year-round outdoor concert series.

Formerly known as Gator Mack’s, the venue is now operating as Freshwater Tavern & Grill, offering food, drinks and indoor entertainment. Meanwhile, the newly introduced Camp Mack Concert Series brings live music every other Saturday on a separate riverfront stage, spotlighting local and regional bands. Three free performances are scheduled in August.

Camp Mack sits adjacent to Lake Kissimmee State Park and is a short drive from Bok Tower Gardens and the Sugar Barn, a nearby entertainment and wedding venue. The resort includes a 40-room lodge, full hookup RV sites, a marina store, and access to popular fishing and airboating destinations.

The area is steeped in Florida history, serving as the site of Fort Gardiner during the Second Seminole War and a 19th-century steamboat stop. In 2020, a Heritage Trail was established in partnership with the Polk County Historical Association, highlighting its legacy, including visits from three U.S. presidents.

In addition to the live music and scenic riverfront, guests can enjoy bingo, trivia nights, dart tournaments, karaoke and airboat tours from Alligator Cove Tours, the area’s top-rated nature excursion.
