Wildwood man arrested after dispute over food stored in refrigerator

A Wildwood man was arrested after a domestic dispute over food stored in a refrigerator.

James Daniel Mayo III, 23, is facing a charge of assault as a result of the altercation which took this past Sunday at a shared residence at 4760 County Road 121D, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Another man was attempting to free up some space in the refrigerator for an upcoming party and began inquiring about multiple containers of take-out food stored in the refrigerator. The man got an angry reaction from Mayo who “came out of his room yelling and being belligerent.” Mayo ordered that his containers of food be put back in the refrigerator. He then grabbed several food containers and “slammed” them into a trash can. He became “hostile” toward the man who had tried to clear up space in the refrigerator.

Mayo “lunged” at the other man who put up his arms. Mayo “dramatically fell backwards” and caught himself on a marble kitchen counter with his arms. Mayo “started yelling” and threatened “to call the cops.”…
