Residents of Homestead’s East 13th Avenue awoke Thursday morning shaken by the sound of sirens and the sight of yellow police tape stretching across their block. Just before 11 p.m. on July 23, Allegheny County police received a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence in the 300 block of East 13th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man inside the home suffering from a single gunshot wound to his leg and rushed him to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Investigators later identified the suspect as 37-year-old Joseph Poole. According to WPXI.com News Staff, Poole is charged with aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail pending his preliminary arraignment. Court records indicate that, after the shooting, Poole turned himself in at the West Homestead police station, telling officers, “I just shot somebody on 13th,” before being taken into custody.…
