NY weather: Pea-sized hail expected with thunderstorms in part of New York Friday – gusts as high as 40 mph

A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Friday at 3:39 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 4:30 p.m. for the Bronx and Queens as well as Nassau County.

The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).

“At 3:39 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Bayside, or over Great Neck, moving southeast at 25 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible.”…
