‘It’s day-to-day’: Ventura woman whose arm was severed in train crash recovering

Elieah Boyd’s life changed in an instant on July 7 after a train traveling through Ventura struck the bike she was trying to carry over the tracks and took her right arm with it.

The 24-year-old surfing instructor and Ventura cafe manager was riding a borrowed electric bike to the beach to meet her boyfriend around 5 p.m. and decided to cut across the train tracks instead of going down Seaward Avenue.
