Free summer meals food truck coming to Staten Island for first time

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Children on Staten Island will soon have another way to access free meals this summer now that New York City has included the borough in a food truck program from which it had been excluded in past years.

The New York City Department of Education confirmed that it will pilot its summer meals food truck program on Staten Island next month. The program offers free meals to anyone ages 18 and younger during the summer to replace the meals they would be receiving at school during the academic year.

The truck will be stationed at Clove Lakes Park, near the intersection of Clove Road and Cheshire Place, from Aug. 18 through Aug. 29, providing free breakfast and lunch seven days a week — Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on weekends, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m…
