Lubbock, TX Weather: Severe Storms, Hail, and 60 mph Winds Possible Tonight, 100°F Heat Follows Saturday

Lubbock, Texas – Isolated thunderstorms will threaten Lubbock and surrounding areas before midnight tonight, bringing the risk of 60 mph wind gusts and hail up to one inch in diameter, especially off the Caprock.

According to the National Weather Service in Lubbock, the strongest storms are most likely before midnight Friday, mainly west and northwest of the city. While not everyone will see storms, areas that do could experience downed tree limbs, minor property damage, and slick roads as wind-driven hail and rain move through. Residents in Plainview, Littlefield, and Levelland should be alert for sudden changes in weather and consider moving vehicles under cover.

Temperatures will hold steady in the mid 60s to mid 70s tonight before a hot, sunny Saturday takes over. Highs will soar from 96 to 101 degrees across Lubbock County and much of West Texas, with light southeast winds offering little relief.
