Bemidji man pleads guilty ‘shooting rampage’ at homeless encampments

A 37-year-old man has pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of 2nd-degree intentional murder in connection with a “shooting rampage” at Minneapolis homeless encampments.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Joshua Anthony Jones will be sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Jones shot four people in total and tried to shoot a fifth in the Phillips neighborhood of south Minneapolis on Sept. 18, 2024 during what police described as a “rampage.”

He killed 20-year-old Roland Scott Little Owl near one encampment on the 2500 block of 17th Avenue South, later fatally shooting 39-year-old Robert Milton Brown in the head near another encampment at East 25th Street and Bloomington Avenue…
