CHICAGO — Two teenagers were shot, one fatally, and police say three people are in custody after an altercation late Wednesday night in the West Lawn neighborhood on the city’s Southwest Side.
According to Chicago police, a group of five people were walking on the sidewalk in the 7200 block of South Avers Avenue around 11:45 p.m. when three members of the group took out handguns and fired shots at the other two, an 18-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy.

Police say the 18-year-old boy was shot in the head and taken to an area hospital after being treated by the Chicago Fire Department. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
