Suspect mistakenly released from custody in New Orleans

The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office says it accidentally released a prisoner due to mistaken identity. Thirty-year-old Khalil Bryan (pictured) faces charges in several violent and non-violent crimes, the sheriff’s office confirmed.

“This incident was the result of human error: a misidentification based on a shared last name between two individuals,” said Sheriff Susan Hutson. “We are currently conducting a full internal investigation, and I can confirm that disciplinary actions will occur.”

Bryan is suspected of aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic abuse child endangerment, and home invasion. He is also wanted on charges of illegal possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer.
