HOUSTON (KIAH) — CenterPoint Energy is going to hire and train hundreds of new electric workers to support Houston’s fast-growing energy needs.
The company announced Friday morning that it will hire 200 new lineworkers by the end of this year and around 800 by 2030. CenterPoint is also launching a new FREE training program called Energy Expressway™, which starts in October of 2025.
It’s all part of a $53 billion investment plan to improve Houston’s electric grid and prevent future outages. The launch will offer hands-on and classroom training at the Hiram O. Clarke Training Center in southeast Houston, and aims to prepare local workers for strong careers in the energy industry…
