Kent man, 23, faces murder charge in White Center shooting

King County prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Kent man with second-degree murder and first-degree assault for allegedly shooting two men outside a Seattle bar in White Center over a dispute about a vehicle that crashed into a parked car.

Augustino Palepale Jr. is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Aug. 6 at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. He remains in custody at the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle with bail set at $2 million, according to jail records.

Palepale allegedly fatally shot James Edward Sears, 52, and injured the 26-year-old son of Sears, at about 12:38 a.m. July 20 at 9808 16th Ave. SW in unincorporated King County, outside of the Whateke Sports Bar. Sears died of a gunshot wound to the torso, according to the July 22 report by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office…
