Oakland Chase Leads to Head-Royce School Lockdown, Suspect Arrested While Main Target Escapes

Authorities conducted a high-stakes pursuit yesterday through Oakland’s Lincoln Highlands neighborhood, culminating in a lockdown at the Head-Royce School and the arrest of one suspect. Despite a rigorous search, officials reported that two individuals, including the main target of the operation, managed to evade capture. One man, wanted in connection with a robbery, remains at large after a dramatic chase that saw U.S. Marshals engage with the suspects, according to The Mercury News.

The chase initiated after the target’s vehicle was tracked through various Oakland locations, eventually leading law enforcement to deploy spike strips to end the pursuit quickly. These efforts stopped the car near Lincoln Avenue and Tiffin Road around 3:45 PM. “We were pretty fast on it, and we had a lot of support,” U.S. Marshals spokesperson Christopher Tamayo noted in an interview with The Mercury News. “But there are still going to be gaps, and it appears he was able to get through.”

Post-crash, three individuals fled the vehicle, spurring a rapid response from the authorities. Head-Royce School was placed on immediate lockdown as officers combed the area. The rapid containment efforts resulted in the capture of one suspect on campus around 5:00 PM, yet with no connection to the school.
