Spraying to take place in Worcester following West Nile virus detection

The City of Worcester announced Thursday that West Nile virus had been detected in mosquitoes that were trapped at Willow Street.

On July 29 after 9 p.m., the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project will use trucks to spray pesticides where the mosquitoes were found, according to an email from Thomas Matthews, a spokesperson for City Manager Eric Batista. Roads near Willow Street will also be subjected to spraying, Matthews wrote.

The streets that will be sprayed are as follows:

  • Clive Street
  • Columbus Street
  • Dewar Drive
  • Enfield Street
  • Englewood Avenue
  • Fairfield Street
  • Ferdinand Street

  • Genoa Street
  • Hiscox Street
  • Hobson Avenue
  • Isabella Street
  • Lisbon Street
  • Lovell Drive
  • Lovell Street
  • Lovell Terrace
  • May Street
  • Maybrook Place
