Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Tonawanda’s Sumitomo plant might have a buyer. Glenn Leonardi, vice president and general counsel at Sumitomo tells Business First an undisclosed party is interested. Leonardi says Sumitomo is still looking to see if the potential buyer is “a real opportunity or not.” The company has also filed a summons asking a judge for an easement on cooling water entering the plant and the discharging of storm water.
Nearly 8,000 unionized healthcare workers at Kaleida Health facilities approved a new three-year labor agreement Thursday night after three days of voting. The workers are represented by two unions, 1199SEIU and Communications Workers of America. 94% of 1199SEIU members voted yes compared to 79.5% from CWA. The contract includes improvements to staffing, wages and benefits.
A former Alden nursing home on Walden Avenue has been sold by the county for $1 and will be turned into a pot growing facility for the state.
