One person dead after commercial truck crash in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A single-vehicle crash left one person dead in Jefferson County earlier this month.

On Friday, Tennessee Highway Patrol released the preliminary report for the July 19 crash. According to the report, the crash happened in the 1300 block of Deep Springs Road.

THP said that a 2020 Isuzu NPR truck was driving North on Deep Springs Road when it swerved off the right side of the roadway to avoid a vehicle that slowed in its lane. The truck then struck a utility pole and came to an uncontrolled rest.

The driver of the truck, identified as Donnie Cogburn, 29, died as a result of the crash, the report said. There was also a passenger in the truck who was not injured.
