Sunnyvale: 5 Nabbed In Alleged Conspiracy To Rob Jewelry Store

Five men were arrested in Sunnyvale on Wednesday on suspicion of being in a stolen car and conspiring to rob a jewelry store, the city’s Department of Public Safety said.

At about 2:30 p.m., Sunnyvale officers responded to a report of two allegedly stolen vehicles driving in the area of Lawrence Expressway and U.S. Highway 101. Police have been more focused on stolen vehicles in the area due to recent robberies at jewelry stores involving stolen cars, the department said.

By 2:50 p.m., patrol officers located a vehicle matching the description of one of the stolen cars. They attempted to make a traffic stop by El Camino Real and Wolfe Road, but the vehicle allegedly failed to yield, and a short pursuit ensued. At one point, the car stopped and five people got out of it and ran into nearby neighborhoods in the area of Fremont Avenue and Rembrandt Drive, police said…
