Man shot in West Town knocks on doors to get help

A 23-year-old man was shot while sitting in his pickup truck in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood Saturday morning, prompting him to seek help by knocking on a nearby resident’s door.

The man was parked in the 1000 block of North Hoyne Avenue around 4:41 a.m. when someone in a passing black Nissan sedan opened fire, according to Chicago police. A bullet pierced the passenger side of the truck, traveled through the seat, and struck the man in his lower right back, an officer at the scene said.

Despite the injury, the victim managed to get out of the truck and walk to a nearby home to get help. First responders took him to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition…
