Explosive device scare in East Bakersfield turns out to be false alarm

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A tense situation unfolded in East Bakersfield Saturday evening when a suspected explosive device was reported in a neighborhood, only to be later deemed a false alarm.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. on July 26, 2025, to Richmond Street, just north of Potomac Avenue, following a call about a potential explosive device.
