PUCO asked to open formal investigation into FirstEnergy power outages in Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel filed a motion Friday asking the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to open a formal investigation into the recent FirstEnergy power outages in Barberton, Lakewood, and other Ohio communities.

The outages affected more than 10,000 FirstEnergy consumers.

Part of OCC’s ask is that the PUCO make findings in a formal, docketed investigation about whether FirstEnergy has been negligent with regard to its outages and owes consumers compensation for perishable food and other damages…
