KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Two people were rescued from the river after their kayaks overturned Sunday.

While a group of four people were kayaking on the Kalamazoo River Sunday morning, two kayaks got hung up then overturned, leaving two of the kayakers temporarily stranded in the river, according to Cooper Township Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief James Miles.
Crews responded to the East D Avenue boat launch, rescuing the two kayakers quickly, Miles said, and the other two continued on their path down the river after everyone was safe.
