Gates cuts ribbon on new playground at Westgate Park

GATES, N.Y. (WROC) — Families in Gates have something new to enjoy this weekend as officials cut the ribbon on a brand-new playground at Westgate Park.

The project marks a full upgrade of a playground that town officials say was about 25 years old. The new setup includes modern features like rubberized flooring for safety and a shaded cover to help kids stay cool during the summer heat.

“This is wonderful — it’s a great addition to our park,” said Gates Town Supervisor Cosmo Giunta. “This is one of our most utilized parks. Many people frequent it. It’s a way to build a strong community, bring people together, and actually have people come play outside, which is wonderful.”…
