Lubbock Mayor encourages all citizens to come out to ‘Coffee with the Mayor’

LUBBOCK, Texas — The City of Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer said his campaign was built on the saying, “Time for a Change,” and said with his revival of Coffee with the Mayor, he tends to keep that promise.

McBrayer said many people bond over a good cup of Joe. He continued that as an elected official, it is essential to hear what the citizens of Lubbock are thinking or saying, so why not do it over coffee and muffins? McBrayer said, “It’s an opportunity for citizens to meet the mayor, meet their council person and talk to them.”

McBrayer said anyone can always call and email him if they would like to talk, but nothing beats talking face-to-face. “There’s not too many opportunities for people to do that with their elected officials, except at the city level.”

And the mayor said when he was running, he wanted to keep a promise, “I felt like I was elected very much by a broad base of the community here in Lubbock and from all districts.” McBrayer said, “I won almost every precinct in the city, which meant people were looking to me to try to establish my campaign. It was time for a change, and they were looking to me for that, so I wanted to make sure I had that sort of very personal connection with them so that they knew that even though I’m up here on that 11th floor of city hall, I’m down on their level.”…
