Lake Spokane and Hope Fires see major containment gains

Fire crews reported progress in containing the Lake Spokane fire, which is now more than 50% contained. The fire has burned 2,550 acres since July 19. Crews are engaged in mop-up operations and repair work along the containment line. Evacuation levels have been reduced across the fire zone. Areas previously under Level 3 “go now” orders have been lowered to Level 2, while former Level 2 areas are now at Level 1, indicating residents should “be ready.” This adjustment affects the region from Happy Hills Road to Rail Canyon. Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
