Washington, D.C. – Scorching temperatures and stormy skies are gripping the D.C. region this weekend, with highs near 95°F and a daily threat of thunderstorms continuing through Monday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, high humidity and heat will combine with unstable air to spark scattered storms across the region. Some storms could turn strong to severe, especially west of the Blue Ridge on Monday, bringing damaging winds and heavy rain. Storm chances range from 30% to 70% through Monday, tapering off Tuesday as dry conditions return.
Cities including Baltimore, Arlington, and Frederick are expected to reach the mid-90s, while higher elevations in western Maryland may top out in the 80s.
