Kent County Commissioner hosts ‘Stop the Violence’ meeting to tackle rising gun violence

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A so-called emergency meeting was held Friday by Kent County Commissioner Robert Womack, called “Stop the Violence.”

It was the second of these meetings, aimed at addressing the concerns around gun violence in Kent County.

“When you look at some of the violence that we go through in the summer, but you look at the increase in the domestic violence that’s been happening, not only in Grand Rapids, but on the outer edges of Kent County, it’s really time to talk about violence because it can be prevented, but we have to be proactive,” said Womack…
