12-Year-Old In Stable Condition After Accidental Shooting by Teen Brother in Jacksonville

A Jacksonville family experienced a harrowing ordeal yesterday evening when a teen accidentally discharged a gun, injuring his 12-year-old brother. According to ActionNewsJax, the incident occurred at around 5:45 PM on Galapagos Avenue South in the Wonderwood area. The younger child suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was subsequently taken to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

In an early stage of the investigation, law enforcement officials have yet to fully understand why the older brother possessed the firearm. As reported by News4Jax, responding officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office took the brother into custody and noted that he was cooperating with the police following the shooting.
