Intense heat continues

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – We are in the midst of a heat wave across the Carolinas. Extreme heat warning continues for the area through Monday. You probably have noticed the lack of a sufficient breeze across the area. Thanks to westerly winds, downsloping off the Appalachian mountains, and high pressure over our area, this supplies compressed and sinking air, which is idea for heat across our area. The lack of a breeze helps amplify the real feel temperature. This is one of the most intense heat waves we have seen in quiet sometime.

Tonight it will be hot and humid across the area. Most of us should stay clear overnight. A very, isolated storm will be possible. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 70s, close to 80 in the Pee Dee. Lows around the coast will be in the low 80s.

Sunday will be much like Saturday. Another day of hot and humid weather across the area. The lack of breeze, and the intense heat and humidity will elevate those temperatures into the lower 100s across the Pee Dee and mid to upper 90s across the coastal areas. A very very small chance of seeing an isolated storm pop up. Monday again, a carbon copy with high heat and humidity, as the heat warning continues…
