ALBANY — An attorney from the Finger Lakes has been accused of stealing nearly $20,000 while working as a senior lawyer in county legal offices that represent children involved in the judicial system.
State Police said Jessica Saks, 48, falsified receipts and financial records while serving as the chief attorney for the Schuyler County and Chemung County Children’s Law Office. Troopers said she overstated or forged bills that allowed her to receive “financial benefits that were intended for other employees in her office.”
Saks is accused of receiving reimbursements from the state of approximately $19,957. Troopers said they were first alerted to the alleged misconduct when they received a tip in June 2024. She is accused of using some of the funds for personal expenses unrelated to her work in the office, which is part of the Supreme Court’s Third Judicial Department’s Appellate Division…
