ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – A man will spend at least five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to trafficking drugs and illegal weapons charges.
According to the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office, 34-year-old Matthew Glenn Buckner pleaded guilty on Monday to multiple felony charges including fleeing arrest, trafficking opium/heroin, possession of a firearm by a felon and being a habitual felon.
The district attorney’s office said the charges stem from a May 2025 incident when Buckner ran from Buncombe County sheriff’s deputies in the Starnes Cove area. During the chase, Buckner reportedly drove at high speeds, passing other drivers in blind curves and nearly hitting oncoming vehicles…
