Irvington man arrested after juvenile accidentally shoots himself with stolen gun, MCSO says

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – An Irvington man is being held at Mobile County Metro Jail after a young teenager accidentally suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound while handling a stolen firearm, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Demetrie Harriott, 20, was booked into the jail early Monday morning and charged with second-degree receiving stolen property, according to jail records.

The sheriff’s office said deputies on Sunday responded to a report of a 13-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound. They learned the juvenile was handling a firearm in a living room when it discharged, striking him in the left thigh, the MCSO said.

Because of the severity of the injury, the boy was taken to a local hospital for immediate treatment, the MCSO said…
