A Leesburg man was arrested for theft after drinking a Twisted Tea without paying for it at Publix Supermarket.
An officer responded to Publix Supermarket at Palm Plaza, regarding a theft around 2:40 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Upon arrival, a store manager told him that she saw 59-year-old Scott Alan Thompson drinking Twisted Tea near one of the exits on the surveillance cameras.
The manager reviewed the footage to see if Thompson paid for the drink. She saw him come into the store, head to the deli department and order a 12” Boar’s Head ham sub. He then went to get a 12-pack of 12oz Twisted Tea cans. He put both items in a Walmart plastic bag before heading to the exits without paying, the report said.
The store was able to recover the products due to Thompson leaving them behind along with two of the teas he drank. The items totaled $30.48, the report said…
