SPOKANE, Wash. — A new proposal put forward by Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown on Monday aims to streamline the siting process for daycare and childcare facilities, with the hope of creating more opportunities and helping expand access to meet the growing demand for childcare in Spokane.
Currently, the City of Spokane requires a costly conditional use permit process for those seeking to open childcare centers in some residential zones. The city says the new proposal would remove this barrier and allow childcare centers in all residential and commercial zones across the city.
