Family of migrant claims Whitfield County jail failed to give him diabetic medical care

WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. — The family of a man arrested by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office claims he did not receive the medical care necessary to treat his Type 1 diabetes while in jail.

The sheriff’s office says they followed proper medical protocol, but the family claims their loved one’s health deteriorated while in their care.

Carlos Salazar-Hernandez is now in ICE custody due to his illegal status, where his family fears his health will continue to decline.
