ZACHARY, La. (Louisiana First) — People in Zachary will soon see some major upgrades to the Rouses Market and the retail center it calls home.
Rouse Land Company recently bought that retail center near Church Street and Old Scenic Highway for about $2 million.Rouses District Manager Kyle Zito said customer satisfaction played a big role in why his company bought this entire shopping center.
“It’s one of my better locations, from a sales perspective,” Zito mentioned. “We’ve heard a lot of feedback from the actual community. They’ve been asking us to get a handle on things down here, so we really listened, and it led to us purchasing the property.”Zito said the shopping center and grocery store need several improvements, and the roughly 12-acre shopping plaza was purchased from an out-of-state owner.“At this time, right now, we’re in the early stages, obviously, we bought it two weeks ago. We’re working on bidding, permitting, and hiring architects for the design. We’re still in the early phase. It will probably be six months before we see any real work being done. We’ll be working on getting new facades, new HVAC systems, and overall, to put it back to the standards that we expect, and as Rouses, we try to establish,” Zito declared.The shopping center is currently home to an Anytime Fitness, which Zito said is the only other current development there outside of the Rouses grocery store…
