CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Eastern Iowa Airport is designating a section of its property to bolstering Iowa’s aviation workforce.
The airport’s Aviation Workforce Development Campus was launched largely in an effort to fill hiring gaps across the industry. The Eastern Iowa Airport says there is an estimated gap of roughly 17,000 pilots across the country.
The campus is already home to the hangars for Coe College and Kirkwood Community College, the schools teaching piloting and aviation maintenance respectively. There is also 40 acres of land designated for new businesses, ideally airline maintenance shops…
