Vacant local mall prepares for makeover amid talks with national developer

CINCINNATI (Cincinnati Business Courier) – The 32-acre site that houses the largely vacant Towne Mall in Middletown is poised for redevelopment, and its upcoming transformation could turn the property into a vibrant mixed-use community with retail, food and beverage and entertainment options, officials said.

Jacob Schulte, Middletown program manager, said the city is currently engaged in pre-development agreement negotiations with national development firm Midland Atlantic Properties. He expects those negotiations to be completed in the next 30 days.

“The city’s long-term vision … is to create a commercial mixed-use development opportunity, (complementary) to the Renaissance Pointe project across the highway, that would create a mix of retail and service uses,” Schulte said. “These uses may be (complemented) by potential residential, hospitality and office end-users to create a vibrant commercial development for the Middletown, and the region as a whole.”…
