Spirit Airlines to furlough 270 pilots

According to a media release on Monday, the airline said it’s taking this action “to ensure we operate as efficiently as possible as part of our efforts to return to profitability.” The move comes after the airline emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March.

The low-cost airline filed for bankruptcy protection last November.

At the time, more than 28,000 people worked for the company, many of them at its headquarters in South Florida…
