KCSO deputy bit by K9 while trying to avoid train during On Patrol Live

KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy fell and was bitten on the face by a K9 during On Patrol Live over the weekend.

On Saturday night, KCSO deputies were searching for a man who had fled from a traffic stop. They found the man’s vehicle abandoned in the brush near West Blount Avenue. There were railroad tracks nearby, so the officers told dispatch to stop all train traffic and then began walking on the tracks.

Later, the officers heard a train coming and got off to the side, but one deputy fell and was bitten by a K9 named Enoch. The video showed the deputy bleeding from wounds on his face. During the broadcast, deputies can be heard saying that the lacerations were not that deep.

Law enforcement identified the owner of the vehicle from the VIN number, court records showed. They went to the listed address but did not find him. Later, they learned that he had returned to the home, so they went back. The suspect answered the door with a large dog beside him in what court records said, “appeared to be an intimidation attempt.”

The suspect was taken into custody and faces charges of reckless endangerment, evading arrest, assault – threat of bodily injury, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license, according to court records.
