Man beat, robbed casino patron — while on pretrial release for robbing another casino patron: prosecutors

A man has been charged with robbing and beating a Bally’s casino customer in River North—while on pretrial release for robbing casino shuttle bus riders in Chinatown. Willie Greenwood, 27, now faces three separate robbery cases—each involving victims who had recently visited casinos.

He was initially ordered detained in the Chinatown case in March. But Judge Timothy Joyce decided to release him a month later without even requiring an ankle monitor, according to court records.

Back in March, a Chicago police tactical unit was patrolling Chinatown, on the lookout for a car used in three robberies that had occurred around the neighborhood earlier that day. The victims reported being targeted after getting off a casino shuttle…
