An unforecasted torrential downpour didn’t dampen the July 1 Fresh at Five farmers’ market Cobbler Cookoff, with George Ewing’s (center) caramel cobbler being selected as the winner.
Distinguished judges Rosemary Aultman (left) and Mary Lewis Govero (right) praised Ewing’s caramel cobbler for its “great crust-to-filling ratio” and just the right amount of sweetness.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Chef Alivia Ashburn of 303 Jefferson for her classic pecan cobbler made from a cherished family recipe, and to Jimmy Lee of Meals with Purpose for his rich and flavorful caramel apple cobbler…
