No-cost meals returning to Lowcountry school districts

Charleston, S.C. (WCBD) – The new school year is fast-approaching , and school districts including Berkley County, Charleston County, and Dorchester District Two are all participating in free or reduced meal programs.

One of thee district’s main priorities is keeping students fed, and ensuring all students have access to healthy meals. Dorchester District Two Assistant Super Intendant Kenny Farrell, explained this program is in efforts to invest in their students, “We want them to be high academics, then we need to fuel their brain.”

This year, all students at DDTwo will receive free breakfast and lunch, which is made possible by the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). The CEP is a federal program which provides meals to all students in high-needs districts at no cost. Students do not have to apply or qualify for the program…
