Attorney General’s Violent Crime Reduction Team Secures Indictment Against Convicted Louisville Felon

FRANKFORT, KY (July 15, 2025) Attorney General Russell Coleman announced today action by the Attorney General’s Violent Crime Reduction Team (VRT) resulted in a felony indictment which could put a convicted felon behind bars. The Louisville-based VRT is part of the Attorney General’s Special Prosecutions Unit.

Chucobyion Javell McAtee, 21, was indicted by a Jefferson County Grand Jury on a charge of Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon (Class C Felony). McAtee was arraigned this week and returns to court Aug. 29th for a pre-trial conference.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Hammad Khan will prosecute the case on behalf of the Commonwealth…
