Tennessee Department of Revenue warns consumers about new text message scam

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Department of Revenue is warning consumers about a new text message phishing scam that threatens the recipient that they will lose their license if they don’t immediately pay an outstanding fine.

“Our records show that as of today, you still have an outstanding traffic ticket,” the scam text reads.

The message goes on to say that if a payment is not made by August 1, 2025, the recipient could have their vehicle registration suspended or, even worse, they could lose all driving privileges…
